420 Transportation in Denver

The week of April 20th has become one of the most celebrated times to be in Colorado, especially Denver. We celebrate the entire week, with events such as the 420 Rally at Civic Center, and the 420 Block Party. Denver has become the best place in the nation to celebrate the highest of holidays: 4/20. Here is some advice for getting yourself around the city, and taking in all the sights and events to make your stay in Denver the best one.

If you’re heading to Denver for 4/20, chances are you will be in need of transportation when you get there. If you plan to drive your own car, or even rent one, be aware that the roads will be packed and parking will most likely be a nightmare. Denver has become quite populated since the “Green Rush”, but unfortunately the infrastructure is struggling to catch up. Interstate 25 is busy literally all day, and it’s not uncommon to encounter traffic jams in unexpected places and times. Interstate 70, the main road to and from the airport is even busier. If being on time matters for any of your events, you won’t regret giving yourself some extra time to get there.

The following are some recommended options for travel in and around Denver during the week of April 20th:

420 Airport Pickups and Drop-off and Limo – Arrive to Denver with luxury and style with our 420 Airport Pickup service. The driver will take you straight to a dispensary where you can get your cannabis vacation started as soon as you please. These exclusive services must be scheduled through one of our agents.

Uber & Lyft – The City of Denver offers both of these ride share options, Ask the driver, they may let you consume in their vehicle, but most will not. The week of April 20 will be one of the busiest for these services. If you’re willing to wait for them, and to cough up the dough for the almost guaranteed “surge pricing”, they are convenient because they can typically drop you off right where you need to be.  Since they are a little more expensive, and to cut down on the traffic, below are some transportation alternatives.

B-Cycle – Riding a bike has always been 420 friendly. Since vaporizers are wind proof, why not bring one of those along? Social consumption is not legal in public in Denver, so use discretion and common sense.

To check out Denver B-Cycle, download their app or go to their website: denverbcycle.com. There are several stations in the Denver metro area where you can go to rent your bike.

Once you’ve purchased a 24 hour pass from the website or app, rates are only $5 for every 30 minutes past the first half hour. The app shows you the location of each station, and the availability of bikes at each location.

RTD – Denver Light Rail – Stick to edibles on Denver public transportation, it is not legal for you to consume cannabis on any light rail train or bus in Denver.

RTD operates 365 days a year, and can get you to and from the airport. RTD has lines throughout the city, and most things are a quick walk or bus ride for whatever you’re trying to get to. For example: want to see the mountains? Take the W line to get to Golden to hike Table Mesa. Transfer between rail to bus to get to Boulder, where you can stroll through Pearl Street and see the famous Flatirons.

Grab a Day Pass Book for the weekend. It includes fare to and from the airport, and saves you the hassle of figuring out the fare zones.
