California is known as one of the original states to endorse the many uses of hemp. This year for national Hemp History Week it is only fitting that there are so many events happening throughout the state. Check out one of these ten events between June 5th and 11th for lots of happy hemp times to be had!
1. Hempcrete Workshop At Millennial Farmer LLC

Hosted by one of the foremost Hempcrete creators in California, this educational workshop will take place June 11th from 10am to 3:30pm in Vista. Learn about the history behind hemp in the United States, sustainability, and uses for Hempcrete. Help build an outdoor library and learn how you can utilize Hempcrete for yourself. This community event aims to spread hemp awareness and further educate people about its sustainable properties.
2. Happy Camp Hemp History Week

This secluded, back woods camp is located near the California and Oregon border. They will be hosting a fun filled and hemp based two-day event that is great for everyone! Enjoy the serenity of the great outdoors while learning about hemp and its many uses. Learn about hemp history, the benefits of hemp, or spend some relaxing time in the surrounding woods and lakes. Live music and hemp related films will also be on showcase at this one of a kind temporary hemp resort.
3. Monterey County Organic Co-op Celebrates Hemp History Week

On June 5th in Salinas you can participate in a community event focusing on the history of hemp. Join in the fun all day long from 8am to 8pm. Stick around for a viewing of the film “Bringing it Home”. A documentary about a father on a mission to find sustainable building resources and stumbles upon the incredibly useful hemp plant. A pot-luck will be available for all to share and recipe swapping for hemp infused foods is highly encouraged! Hosted by the Monterey County Organic Co-op this event is setup to help spread the idea of affordable, sustainable, and organic foods and materials that can be available for everyone.
4. North Coast Open Studios

If you are an avid art enthusiast, this is one of the best combinations of art and hemp in the state. Join artists on June 10th from 10am to 5pm at the North Coast Studio in Eureka for a look at dozens of pieces of hemp artwork. You will be able to mingle with the artists, who will be on site, and discovers many unique pieces of art as well. Fibre Poet clothing company will also be on display, in honor of Hemp History Week, with an abundance of hand dyed hemp based kimonos.
5. Harborside Health Center Hemp History Week

The mission of Harborside Health Center is to bring awareness and show the value of cannabis and hemp. On June 11th from 1pm to 4pm at the non-profit Harborside dispensary you will be treated to hemp education, displays, and hands on exhibits. You will be able to see examples of building materials, fabrics and fibers, and even clothing made from hemp. On top of all that there will also be plenty of hemp seeds and body care products to sample while you enjoy the afternoon. If you are looking to donate to the cause cds, dvds, and posters will be available for purchase and the revenue will go towards to the health center.
6. Hemptopia Hemp History Week Celebration

If you are in Solvang on June 5th, Hemptopia is where you will want to be! From 1pm to 4pm hangout at the Hemptopia warehouse for free product giveaways, hemp education, and more. Live music, hemp related films, and speakers on the topic of hemp will also be part of the day’s activities. Even if you cannot be at the physical location, you can also take advantage of free product samples with every order during Hemp History Week.
7. Bringing it Home Screening

The hemp film of the year, “Bringing it Home”, is a can’t miss. Catch a screening of the film on June 11th in Berkeley. The point of the evening is to spread awareness about the uses and sustainability of hemp. The documentary tells the story of one man’s journey to the realization of the industrial uses of hemp. Through the film, you will learn about the many uses for hemp, including as a building material, textile, food products, and auto parts. It also highlights the fight against global warming and deforestation that hemp helps with. Hangout with Berkeley students and learn more about hemp to celebrate Hemp History Week with “Bringing it Home”.
8. Weed Wild About Organic

From 12am to 4pm each day June 5th to the 11th HempAware will host Weed Wild About Organic. All ages are welcome to this event taking place in Weed, California. You will be able to experience speakers, hemp products, free giveaways, and demonstrations daily. Bring the whole family for some “hempducation” and good times. Learn about the many benefits, uses, and of course the history of hemp during this week-long celebration. Located conveniently on main street this event is sure to bring together hemp heads from the surrounding areas and those looking to further their hemp education as well, don’t miss out!
9. Solar Living Institute

Located in Hopland, the Solar Living Institute is a trusted source for solar energy products and promotion of sustainable lifestyles. They provide off grid living supplies and go hand in hand with the same values that hemp promotes. On June 10th from 1pm to 4pm the institute will be hosting a Hemp History Week event to educate everyone about hemp. Take a spin on the visitor bikes that power the garden lights and then head over to the main event. You will have many activities to choose from, including food taste testing, perusing displays, and test out hemp lotions and soaps as well! The afternoon will be perfect for hemp novices and experts alike.
